1560 Geneva Bible, 1st Edition

I am looking at purchasing a different Bible than the KJV I was given long ago. Does anyone have any knowledge about the "1560 Geneva Bible, 1st Edition"?

THIS IS WHAT THE SALES LITERATURE SAYS:

The Geneva Bible was the “Bible of the Protestant Reformation”, and the Bible of the Puritans and Pilgrims. It was the first Bible taken to America, brought over on the Mayflower. The Geneva Bible is the Bible upon which America was founded. You can imagine, most early American colonists, who were fleeing the religious oppression of the Anglican Church (Church of England), wanted nothing to do with the King James Bible of the Anglican Church!

The Geneva Bible is the version quoted from hundreds of times by William Shakespeare in his plays. Also called the “Breeches Bible”, the Geneva Bible is the only Bible ever able to outsell and exceed the popularity of the King James Bible, as it did in the early 1600’s until its printing ceased in 1644. In fact, one of the greatest ironies of history, is that Protestants of all denominations today embrace the King James Version of the Bible (which reads 90% the same as the Geneva), even though the King James Version is not a Protestant Bible (it’s Anglican / Church of England). Most Protestants have never even heard of the Bible of their own heritage: the Geneva Bible. It was produced by John Calvin, John Knox, Myles Coverdale, John Foxe, & other English refugees in ever-neutral Geneva, Switzerland… fleeing the persecution of Roman Catholic Queen “Bloody” Mary in England. Mary would not tolerate the Protestant Geneva Bible, which proclaimed the Pope an “antichrist” in its commentary notes.

Back in print for the first time in centuries… nearly forgotten for over 350 years…all but drowned-out by the Anglican Church’s much younger and more “politically correct” King James Version of 1611… reclaim your Protestant heritage by reading the Bible translated by Protestants for Protestants: the 1560 Geneva Bible.

Or is there another Bible one would recommend?

On http://www.anglo-saxonisrael.com, Steve Collins is constructing a translation of the OT from the CI perspective. I have read parts of it and I can, with some reservations, recommend it. It is not yet in print but, YHWH willing, it will be.

I too, would like to replace my 35 year old Scofield, yes, Scofield, with a decent OT tranlasation.

Any suggestions?

I just notice that in the long list of bible translation provided by http://www.biblegateway.com/, 1560 Geneva Bible is not one of them. Interesting. Makes me want to investigate further.

Thanks James (and for your kindly offer) but I would like a so-called official Bible that my family/friends will accept when I turn to it, not just someones translation who they have never heard of. I will most likely purchase Bill Finck's translation at some point but not as my main Bible.

I guess you have to be able to find a jew publisher to be counted as "official". That's okay, I never want to be "official" in this world.

In the 15xx Geneva Bible (there were several editions in the 1500's, not all of them readily available today) you will find the following:

1 - Nearly all of the errors in translation and errors due to poor manuscript sources that the King James Version contains. It is based on the practically same corrupted Masoretic texts and late Greek manuscripts which the King james was based on.

2 - Those errors will be in a version of English which is much more difficult to read than even the King James Authorized version (the one we have now was updated in the 19th century), and most of your family and friends will likely be dismayed.

While the original notes to the Geneva Bible are certainly of historical interest, you are probably better off with a KJV since the Geneva translation offers no real advantages over it. And yes, I have read large parts of it, but not the whole book. A Septuagint is a better Old Testament, however that too is not without its own unique problems.

I recommend the RNKJV...the Restored Name King James Version, so when you're gleaning only what you want, you can at least get the Names right.

My whole point in trying to find an older edition, is to get away from the "JEW" Publisher. I want a Bible that does not have that sick little twisted word "JEW" in it. I want that deceptive word abolished from anything I own.

From what I understand, the word "JEW" was added in the 18th Century and prior to that the correct word "Ioudaios" or "Judaeans" was used, which is why I was trying to find something older than 18th Century.

Ps. Prior to the 18th Century (before the word JEW was inserted), did our White Ancestors believe the Bible, Prophets and Jesus were White people or did they still believe this was all NON-White history/people?

Hey Brad, take a close look at that last picture....notice anything about their EYE COLOR? Looks like varying shades and colors to me. I certainly believe our ancestors knew more about our race than we do.

Not really relevant to the question of this POSTING about the 1560 Geneva Bible but these particular human artists you are referring to were not painting the pure Adamic seed but rather only what they saw around themselves after thousands of years of intermixing. I think we can all agree Italy or Spain was intermixed long ago and today does not resemble their original genetic makeup; likewise, when these pictures were painted it was long after the Adamic seedline was captured and enslaved by many (for example Egypt, Assyria, Mongols etc..) where intermixing occurred and (IMPO) dominant traits (eg. brown eye gene) became part of our genome.

Just because some artist paints a picture does not mean he is trying to paint the pure Adamic seedline or even understands the Bible as Christian Identity does today. Did the artist also think the Flood was worldwide or that all races came from Adam? Adding this as genetic evidence to your cause is erroneous at best and self serving in all likelihood.

Similarly, I have moved from State to State my entire life and in each place I had to put up with people who say, “my high school is the best, my city is the best, my State is the best, my College is the best, my Sports Team is the best, my political party is the best, my religious sect is the best… bla bla bla…”.
I could care less about being popular/OFFICIAL within any grouping of people or repeating their mantra. Group mentality/behavior is almost always a corrupted sickness.

Furthermore, even today’s Christian Identity has most certainly has been infiltrated from when it first started and we know these Jew infiltrators somehow are always among the loudest voices in any given movement. For example, the Jew knows “Nazism” had a wide appeal and enabled people to take physical action against the Jew, so today the Jew knows to never let that ideology get out from under their control again so we find Jews running many “Nazi” groups today. Likewise, the Jew knows Christianity has also fought them in the past so the Jew had to control Christianity with Judeo-Christianity. In regards to Christian Identity, the Jew knows this ideology will fight them as well, just look at “The Order”, so they must also infiltrate this ideology to control the people who happen to get involved.

As such, no man created “group” has my sole allegiance, even if a Caucasian Grouping of my own race tortures or mistreats another I will not side with such sickness.
