From what I see in my own family, as I have in part described above, is that we can be either five-foot tall, or even greater than six-and-a-half feet tall, and that all the factors are not genetic. Diet, exercise, perhaps even nurture and environment are also important factors.
My mother's maternal grandfather was only about 5'6", but his brother over 6'!!!
I visited a Mennonite community once, in far northeast NJ. The homes were built in the late 1700's. The settlers were all German. The ceilings in the homes were not 6 feet high. I had to stoop all the way through, and bend over turning sideways to get through the interior doorways!
In a heavily forested area, this was not for lack of building materials. The people were small!
