I had the notion a couple years ago to give Kmart my business instead of Walmart, even though Kmart is more expensive on most things. Was only another half mile for me to go to Kmart and so I started shopping there (one by me is nearly empty all the time and surely will shut down soon). Got a Kmart rewards card or whatever they call it and started getting emails.

And then during the 2011 Christmas season I saw this commercial -



Riiight. Whenever I see something such as that, I say, "Guess they're saying they don't want regular White folks for customers. Got it. No problem."

Same as with NASCAR, when super rich owner Bill France, Jr. who inherited it announced they wanted to "get away from their redneck fan base." I had been to several NASCAR races, even traveling to New York from Indiana to see the Watkins Glen road race. Once I heard of France's wish, I felt so badly for having maybe embarrassed them with my redneck presence that I promised never to go anywhere near a NASCAR race again. Just tryin' to help out is all.

Looks like more than the rednecks are staying away from NASCAR these days judging by the enormous amount of empty seats at races last two or three years. The recent Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis looked to be maybe 30% full, if that. Careful what you wish for, France.
