If witchcraft is defined as poisoning people, what is Sorcery defined as? tricky deceptions in order to turn friends, family, and allies against each other?

You will have to give a more specific reference. The Greek word pharmakeia was translated as both witchcraft and sorcery, however to the Greeks it referred to the use of drugs.

One of the reasons the greek word pharmakia is translated in English as sorcery is because the mongrel, mystery religions often involve the use of drugs as well as self mutilation.
You can see a form of this Baal worshipping Canaanite religion reintroduced in the modern day club scene with the particiapnts who have piercings, tattoos and the ample drug abuse.
In the North, Germanic effeminate shamans practiced sedjr under the inlfuence of the fungus Fly Agaric (Amanita Muscaria) in which the images hallucinated while skrying the yggdrasil qaballistic tree of life were attributed to Freya,Wotan and Nerthus as oppossed to the psychedlic properties of the mushroom itself.
Being that drug abuse and occultism are often interrelated, throughout time it is not a stretch to see occultic transcendence and the use of chemical entheogens as synonymous.
