David Prophecy and 2nd Coming

Postby Lang » Wed Mar 19, 2014 8:39 pm

I've been talking to Joe recently about David Prophecy. According to this thread: viewtopic.php?f=41&t=4125&start=20, we have no more kings coming from David's lineage.

So, apparently the prophecy is not working anymore. We are wondering if it could possibly be a sign that the second coming of Christ is close, in a way that he would be the next and everlasting king coming from Davids lineage.

Or maybe we are interpreting wrong this prophecy?
"Give a hammer to a white, and he will build civilization;
Give a hammer to an asian, and he will build other hammers;
Give a hammer to an arab, and he will kill his wife;
Give a hammer to a nigger, and he will kill whites;
Give a hammer to a jew, and he will sell it to niggers.
"

The thing is that there is suppose to be a remnant, but not all whites are Israelites, so we may be close to that.

By "prophecy is not working anymore" Lang means that there will no longer be a monarch from the line of David ruling. Not that prophecy fails.

Clifton noted the important implications of this prophecy when he said
"I would remind you that Scripture says in no uncertain terms that there would always be a descendant of David on a throne somewhere until Messiah’s Second Advent. Conceivably, this could mean: if the present Queen Elizabeth II were to have a heart attack and die, and our Redeemer has not returned, the promise to David is a lie and our Bible is untrustworthy."

So no-one knows the day, but it seems to limit the return to a few decades, possibly. I think we should always be readying ourselves... we could be the generation to see His return.

This is my understanding as well although if she did die and Christ didn't return I'd start trying to figure out what I misunderstood rather than condemn the Bible as untrustworthy.

^I agree. I think I might have interpreted revelation/eschatology incorrectly, I think this is why I was so affected by it. I had an idea about how things would be. How the battle would be.

I have so much to learn and read/re-read, the queen is 87, I am not sure if I am/will be prepared. I have so many notes and questions that I am working-on, I feel I need to work on my life too, to be closer to God. I haven't done enough.

On several occasions throughout my Christian life I have faced situations where I felt it was necessary to pursue financial endeavors rather than spiritual ones. I don't mean "getting rich" but to just try and get ahead of the game a bit. Work an extra day or two and blow off the Bible study, that sort of thing. I've always found that when you put the spiritual things first the other stuff God takes care of while you are properly busy.

Hey Staro, I know we have to seek the Kingdom first.

If we are not justified by works, how do we prepare ourselves?, I don't want to be without any lamp oil (what are good fruits, what are good works in God's eyes)?

Secondly, do you sometimes feel you are not worthy of Christ?, like when you are before him you will know you have some deep failings... would you consider this God-fearing or emotional baggage?

I would appreciate your wisdom.

Of course we are not worthy. But to get caught up in feelings of that nature is to call His word into doubt. Calling His word into doubt opens up doors for the enemy to attack us. That only leads to failure. We must be Christians and trust Him at His word and move forward against the enemy.
