One illicit relationship over 250 years and you are not who you think you are. How many Bathshebas never got caught and went back home to their Uriahs?
There are people who are clearly bastards, and we must reject them. But neither do the rest of us have any solid assurance, because none of us have all of our genealogies. That was part of our punishment, to forget who we were.
If you believe in what you are doing, and that the racial message of covenant theology is right, then you should not be found fighting against Yahweh, and you should let your faith rule your life. If you love His Word and His law, that says a lot for who you truly are. But the fruit of those things is reflected in love towards your kinsmen.
When the Wheat are finally separated from the tares there will probably be surprises in both directions. That is the mystery of leaven. Once it is mixed with the flour, men cannot see it for themselves. That is why the Word of God must be our divider.
