begin rant: on the topic of lsd, it comes from rotting ergot fungus. if you wouldn't eat that stuff normally, why would you eat it synthesized? synthesized rotting ergot fungus is a synonym for lsd, but calling it that might make easily-influenced youth think twice before dropping hits of it and attaining a false sense of pseudoenlightenment that lasts exactly as long as the trip, so of course they'll call it lysergic-acid-diethylamide, "sounds so scientific!", and lucy and cid, "sounds like some cool pals i know!"
if all drugs were called names that represented what they're actually made of in a manner understandable to the commonfolk, pharmaceutical firms would start going bankrupt tomorrow night.
same goes for 'magic' mushrooms. psilocybin gives you foodpoisoning, not enough to kill you, but enough to induce near-death-experience effects, otherwise called hallucinogenic-dissociative effects.
any enlightenment achieved on them is done in spite of them and not because of them, precisely because you believe them to be enlightening, so you bypass the socialconditioning mechanisms that prevent enlightenment by believing that you're enlightened because of the drug, but really you're enlightened because of you and your father who's still watching over and reaching out to you even when you're poisoning yourself with rotting fungus.
it's the belief, the faith, that brings about enlightenment, not the drug, because the ability to attain enlightenment and illumination* was within you the entire time because you're a literal extension of the everliving father, the overmind, god. he's in us and we're part of him, that's why we're called his body and he's called the godhead.
enlightenment always resided in us and not in drugs. when viewed thru this lense, there's no reason for anyone to use any drugs at all.
when viewed thru this lense, there's no reason to use a single one of them in the first place. and the day will come when twelve- and thirteen-year-old streetkids won't eat acid like cereal, and drugs will cease to exist in this world, because we will win, not the jewish drugmakers.

it's a topic that strikes close to home because i've been down that road in the past, and even tho i'm fairly certain that most posters here aren't in need of understanding the 'why' behind 'drugs are bad', hopefully a poster or guest or two, or someone, gets something out of it. because understanding why helps folks actually stay away more than just the standard 'drugs are bad, mmmkay' speech.
