Ancient faces

Very little portrait art survives from the ancient world. This video displays a few examples of these portraits, as recovered by archaeologists from sites such as Al Fayyum in Egypt, and Pompeii and Ravenna in Italy.

The vast majority of the portraits displayed here come from the famous 'Al Fayyum' mummies which were discovered in Egypt about a century ago. Most of these portraits date from the height of Roman power in the first century to the Empire's decline in the fifth century AD.

Other examples come from wall paintings from villas in Pompeii, or from late Roman sites at Ravenna in northern Italy.

These portraits, being from around the period that represented the end of the Roman Empire, show the results of the race mixing that helped in a large way to destroy Rome. Rome fell, for lack of Romans, as Athens fell for lack of Athenians. They represent how Americans and Europeans will more than likely look like in 200 years time at the current rate of race-mixing.
Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. Matthew 7 16-19 KJV

It is obvious to me that the maker of the video has a heavy bias towards the dark-complected peoples of the Mediterranean in the late Roman era, and excluded all of the numerous archaeological findings that portrayed the much fairer Aryan types inhabiting those regions. I recognize many of the portaits in the video, having seen them in archaeology journals, and they are mostly from Egypt and southern Italy. They do not represent the typical Greeks or Italians of the period.
