Fear Of Flying?

The Federal Aviation Administration is being sued in a class action lawsuit by a group of White air traffic controllers who were unfairly discriminated against simply because of their race.

In their egalitarian efforts to make the workplace more diverse, the FAA has abandoned traditional standard tests, which discriminate against non-Whites and women. To quote a representative of the Mountain States Legal Foundation, the suing party:

“In abandoning years of hiring the most qualified and adopting a ‘test’ that is the epitome of psychobabble, the FAA told our clients their skills are less important than their race and the public that its racial agenda is more important than aircraft safety,” said William Perry Pendley, MSLF’s president.

You read my mind !
Recently I thought about visiting a friend out west, because there is now a new discount airline, similar to Westjet - http://www.cbc.ca/news/business/newleaf ... -1.3391546 , but I have never flown as I have always had a nagging feeling.
Not so much a fear, but a strange feeling that the day I finally decided to try flying, would be when it collides / is highjacked / malfunctions / etc.

Is it that much cheaper these days to fly, compared to taking the bus or train across the country?
Flying is faster no doubt, but with it comes the hassle of what (and how much ) you can carry with you, right ?

your post reminds us that airlines hire less qualified personnel, just like they have been doing for decades with the fire & police departments across North America to fill minority quotas.
