Stanley Sjöberg had claimed in the video that Israel, or “the Promised land”, is a role model for Sweden with regards to immigration policy. Q: In the film you suggested Israel as a model when it comes to immigration policy. But isn’t there a lot of racism in Israel, particularly against Palestinians?
A: I mean that it does not. It is home to 1.5 million Arabs in Israel and they have the same social rights and political opportunities, which is not even comparable to how people are managed in the Arab countries around it. Therefore, Israel is for me truly a role model in how to receive people.
Q: Regarding social rights: in Israel, it is forbidden for Jews to marry non-Jews. What do you think about that?
Yes, but it’s a unique, special situation because of the history in which the Jewish people time and again have been subjected to various attempts to destroy their identity. Therefore they unite cohesively to maintain their unique race. But at the same time, they show the stranger, the neighbor, the Arab, great love and generosity.
Q: How would you feel if the Swedish government forbade marriage between Swedes and non-Swedes?
A: I would not approve of that, because we are a different people. We do not have the same unique calling as the Jewish people.
