The CDC has removed a page from its website where it admitted that almost 100 million Americans received polio vaccinations which contained the possible cancer-causing Simian Virus 40 (SV40). Fortunately, that page was cached prior to its removal:

SV40 started showing up in biopsied tumors in the 1970s, less than 20 years after the introduction of the useless and deadly polio vaccine, which was "invented" by the crackpot jewish scientist, Jonas Salk. Not widely known, the first Salk polio vaccines were an unmitigated disaster and had to be withdrawn from public use, as children who received it were paralyzed and even killed.

So, no, the polio vaccine is not an example of a good--and successful--vaccine.
