Non-kosher Beef Salami in artificial [non-pork] casing

Postby Staropramen » Tue Apr 01, 2014 9:34 am

I found a company that makes tasty beef salami in a artificial, non-pork casing and is NOT kosher! No vermin kosher markings on the label and I called the company to verify that it in fact is not kosher just to be sure. I know, I know salami is not the healthiest thing in the world but I've really been missing it since giving up pork. This stuff is excellent!

LOL, no thanks. I will stick with the recognizable portions of Biblically clean animals.
It is amazing, however, how much our people love sausage and related mysteries!

The word 'sausage' may be getting a bad rap because of the history of meat processing plants (all of the major processors are jewish owned) putting everything into the grinder, and hence mystery ingredients. All sausage is just ground up meat, usually with spices added. We get our turkey sausage from a Mennonite farmer who farms only organic and he sells it to us without casings. In Kentucky there's lots of hunters who make their own deer sausage, and it's mmmmm good. If you want it done right, do it yerself. In the good ol days, people had their own hand crank meat grinders; my mom had one. But then store bought meat made people less self reliant.

I am certain we can make better sausage, that is good to eat. However that is not the historical pattern, LOL.

I used to eat blood sausage all the time in the Czech Republic. Of course we Israelites have no business eating the stuff but I would be lying if I said that taste-wise it is even remotely repulsive. Europeans have mastered the "art" of taking dirty, vile animals and making them quite delicious. God help us.

I am still wrestling with the mixing of dairy and meat. Cheeseburgers, Lasagna, ricotta with spaghetti and meatballs, etc. For me this is way more difficult to give up than pork, duck or shellfish.

Wow, why are you doing that? Last night I ate two half-pound cheeseburgers, each one with three slices of pepper jack. I must be an incorrigible heathen!

Exodus 23:19, 34:16, Deuteronomy 14:21 wrote: Thou shalt not seethe a kid in his mother's milk.

I know how the Jews interpret this, but we should not take it for granted that the Jews are correct.

I believe it is an idiom, that we should not eat animals which are not yet weaned.

So I eschew veal.

But you are not going to get me off of cheeseburgers. Or the Asiago I like on my spaghetti.

As for duck, where is the prohibition? Honestly, I have not eaten duck that I remember, but that is by chance and not by restriction.

Some of the words for birds and other critters are not even exactly identifiable. The word "swan" is a mistranslation of the King James Version, and there is no prohibition from duck or goose in Scripture.

There are some myths preponderate in certain "CI" circles which are not exactly right.

By the way, the Greek word for Tyre was Turos, and the Greek word for cheese was turos.

Thanks for that clarification. I've never heard that but it seems perfectly logical. Whew, that just made my day. I like veal but I can easily go without!

When I started implementing the dietary laws concerning pork and shellfish my wife mentioned that there is also a prohibition against animals with webbed feet. I haven't really checked that one but I guess I should. She mentioned it because she knows that I enjoy roast duck every now and then.
