Ciaccona

Examples of White, and especially White and Christian, entertainment - that we can still create art and music without the schlock of the jews and negroes and other aliens.

Joe what are the names of those two pieces you posted? Judging from the comments i looked up 'Nicola Mattheis Ciaccona' on Youtube, but for some reason i can never view videos posted on this forum.

I agree with you Pastor, "rap music" is an oxymoron right up there with "chaste trollop." I, too love Classical Music.

Of Nicola Matteis, the English 17th Century diarist, John Evelyn, wrote:

"I heard that stupendious Violin Signor Nichola (with other rare Musitians) whom certainly never mortal man Exceeded on that instrument, he had a stroak so sweete, & made it speake like the Voice of a man; & when he pleased, like a Consort of severall Instruments: he did wonders upon a Note: was an excellent Composer also. Nothing approch'd the violin in Nicholas' hand: he seem'd to be spiritato'd & plaied such ravishing things on a ground as astonishd us all."

Interestingly, Matteis had all but been forgotten until he was rediscovered in the 20th Century. Perhaps marrying a rich widow and neglecting his musical talents contributed to his fading into obscurity for so long.

I had never even heard of him until now, but his Ciaccona piece is beautiful; I must have listened to it 20 times already. There's something about the darker, melodic sort of violin that puts the mind in a trance....

That is very interesting Ezra.

Here are the URLs, I hope this helps Teutonic. This version of Nicola Matteis' ciaccona might be different to the one you found and has a unique interpretation.

Thanks Joe, it appears we both came across different versions of Matteis' 'Ciaccona'- here's mine:

A short piece, but mesmerizing nonetheless.

It certainly is a darker piece, as you said ...and I know what you mean about the violin, it has the same effect on me.

All the great European instruments have a beautiful voice, the voice of non-Western instruments can be awful. It seems the earliest archaeological evidence for string instruments is in Mesopotamia ...the lyres of Ur.

Stay away, they are satanic! The lyres of Genesis 4:21! (Well, perhaps not in the KJV)

Yes, this music is wonderful. But I like more dramatic music for my podcast preludes.

Which I may get around to changing soon...

When I saw 'Mesopotamia' I thought 'white people' and did not make the connection to Jubal  . So now I am wondering how something which is so close to our people, classical music and instruments, could be of satan.

Perhaps it was a dishonest profession in the past, like acting or a joker. That is where you will find satan. I am sure this has been discussed before, ...I will have to look into it again.

LOL, Joe, don't take it to heart! David loved those same instruments, that same music, and often used them to glorify Yahweh. The temple had ordained singers and musicians as well.
