Real Simple: The Word = Yahweh = Yahshua

John fully explains that Yahshua is Yahweh incarnate:

KJV John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
KJV John 1:2 The same was in the beginning with God.
KJV John 1:4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
KJV John 1:10 He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.
KJV John 1:14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

CNT John 12:44-46: 44 Then Yahshua cried out and said: “He believing in Me does not believe in Me but in He who had sent Me, 45 and he seeing Me sees He who has sent Me! 46 I am the Light having come into the Society, that each believing in Me should not abide in darkness!

Now this is really simple, and only a Freudian sort of psychology could pervert it! There are some people who just don't want to accept words at their plain value and meaning. That is also the way it has been, nearly from the beginning!

It is not that simple....

If the bible or the Gospel of John wanted to make the point that Yahweh = Yahshua, why did it simply not say Jesus was God? John 1:1 is the cornerstone of the Trinity doctrine and derivatives thereof, which I usually circle around and save for last. The reason I do this is that it can quickly becoming a sticking point in the debate and then your are too bogged down to continue.

It is my belief that the bible should be harmonious. So, if John 1:1 is interpreted to be stating Jesus was Yahweh, it should be in harmony with the rest of the bible... but it is not in harmony with it. Such an interpretation would not even be in harmony with the rest of the Gospel of John. After all the writer tells us his purpose for the gospel...

(John 20:31 MKJV) But these are written so that you might believe that
Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you might have
life in His name.

He doesn't mention that Jesus is God here does he?

John 1:1 is such a big topic, it deserves its own post.

If there is no harmony between the simple text of John 1:1, it is in your mind only. It is in perfect harmony with the rest of the Bible in my mind. In the beginning was the Word, the Word was Yahweh, and the Word which was Yahweh became flesh - which was Yahshua Christ - and dwelt among us, which is why they would call Him Emanuel, which means God Walks With Us. Real simple.
You cannot coax me into separating John 1:1 from its context and disputing it separately. That is not going to happen. John 1:1 belongs in the context of Genesis 1:1 (which defines the "beginning", and I will answer that later this week), John 1:10, John 1:14 etc. I don't know what part of this you can't understand, but it is all clear to me. But I am not going to fall for your divide-and-conquer strategy. Context, not Cunning, is the way to read Scripture.

I think you misunderstood my previous post. I edited it and put the key statement in bold print.

I am not trying to coax you.
I am not trying to separate John 1:1 from its context or the rest of the bible.
I DO think John 1:1 IS in harmony with the bible, I don't think your interpretation is.

I will elaborate at a later date...

Well, I certainly haven't seen you come up with anything better! My accusation of your coaxing me is meant to illustrate that you were coaxing me to take this verse out of context with the rest of John 1 and the Bible. If you have something better, bring it on and we will examine it!

Why is the name Yahshua used, instead of Yeshua?

What is the origin of Yahshua? I assume it is Hebrew.

Further, why are either of these names, Yahshua /Yeshua used in lieu of Jesus [Christ]?

Thanks, Z

Zenas, I really do suggest that you spend some time reading my site, http://christogenea.org/, where you will find answers to many of the questions that you are posing here. There is even a sitewide search tool that will return results for both Christogenea and Clifton Emahiser's site, which I host and which is found at http://emahiser.christogenea.org. For your question here, please see my essay, Yahshua to Jesus: Evolution of a Name, for starters.
Hope this helps!
Bill

And by the way, not all, but MOST of the writers I have seen using "Yeshua" have been heavily influenced by jewish sources. It is Jeremiah, not Jeremieh; Isaiah, not Isaieh; Halleluijah, not Hallelujeh!!! In all of those names, and many others, "Yah" is the final component. Also, the Greek Eta does NOT always transliterate into the Roman or Anglo "E". Often it transliterates into the "A". An example is in the name Madai, for the Medes (Greek Μηδος).

I am glad to see that William, Pastor Dan, Pastor Visser, etc don't always use the Sacred Name, as new listeners might be clueless and feel alienated.
They will still cling to saying "God" or "Jesus Christ" for who knows how long, so when we occasionally say those titles, and since we are DSCI, we know exactly what we mean (and not false Baal gods), and in time , they will have learned what the Creator's true name is - YAHWEH.

Personally, I can never forget His Title/Name "Christ', as it just seems and sounds right. I just know after some years, that it is Not His PERSONAL name. It's a title, that He alone owns.
