"captcha" and "security check to access"?

Postby Les » Thu Feb 11, 2016 8:28 pm

I use the Mozilla Firefox web browser, and now many websites say to fill out the "captcha" and "security check to access", including this forum, for over a week now.
I have not changed anything in my internet security settings for a long time.
I searched for answers.Nothing.

Am I alone?

is this something the BIG 5 are using across the entire web ?
(Yes, the internet is being gobbled up. I doubt many these days remember the "good old days" when everybody relied on using dialup-,BBS, bulletin boards.)

EDIT:
after looking at the full page, it is some company called Cloudflare that keeps popping up and blocking sites unless I click the captcha "proving I am human".

Controversies
CloudFlare was ranked in the 7th rank among the top 50 Bad Hosts by Host Exploit, even though CloudFlare is not a hosting provider.[31] The service has been used by Rescator, a website that sells payment card data.

Two of ISIS' top three online chat forums are guarded by CloudFlare but U.S. law enforcement has not asked them to discontinue the service.

An October 2015 report found that CloudFlare provisioned 40% of SSL certificates used by phishing sites.

On November 19th, 2015, Anonymous discouraged the use of CloudFlare's services, following the ISIS attacks in Paris and renewed accusation of providing help to terrorists.[37]

Cloudflare offers DDOS mitigation for domains for $25/month for the first domain, and $5/month for each additional domain.

Since Christogenea and Israelect.com are both owned by myself, and since their DDOS mitigation is usually effective, I employ their services.

The alternatives cost hundreds of dollars per month, or more, and are not necessarily as effective. Christogenea cannot afford to pay hundred of dollars per month for DDOS mitigation, even if I can - and have - stopped many such attacks myself through various server administration techniques.

Since Christogenea takes no payment information from anyone, or any personal information of any sort, I am not uncomfortable using their services. Many popular alternative websites prone to attacks employ them.

If they are not shutting down ISIS, that should be no surprise, as ISIS is an organization sponsored by both the Israelis and the U.S. government. Even a Jew will take $25 a month from anyone.

I have moved this topic to a place where only board members may see it.
