DO NOT ASK TO HAVE YOUR POSTS DELETED

Postby wmfinck » Tue Mar 25, 2014 6:46 am

It has been nearly five years since this forum was started. There have probably been four or five hundred people posting here over those 5 years, I would estimate. A lot of people, obviously, have moved on, or the circumstances of their lives have changed, or they become frustrated and leave because they do not get the answers they want, or they have been booted because they were never really honest in the first place.

I never mind, however, when someone decides to move on. I don't even get upset when people leave in anger. Some of those people I miss, as do others here, and some of them I certainly do not miss.

But there is one thing that is irritating, and that is all of the dishonest people who would want their posts deleted when they leave here. To me, these people are sissies and cowards, or they had agendas that failed and now they are angry or embarrassed about it.

If you won't stand by it in the future, do not post it, because I am not going to delete it simply because you have decided to leave!

I always tried to give members here as much space as possible, since I expected little from responsible Christians but to act accordingly. However I tightened up the security here a few months ago, when I discovered that a certain supposed sister had deleted all of her 50-something posts after being here on and off for over two years. (I have been informed that the person in question has been playing squaw to her very own Cherokee, and I can only presume that is why she left.) She was, so far as I know, the second person here who had done that. (If I really wanted to, I could indeed retrieve her posts from a database backup, but it is not worth my time.)

So I fixed it that users could not delete or edit their posts after a certain period of time.

For special and particular reasons, I am willing to help board members out by editing a post if the need arises. But to me, it is totally dishonest to change the substance of a post after it has been replied to. However to want all of one's posts deleted after they are interwoven into so many other people's conversations is just plain selfish, and cowardly as well.

So don't ask, because I won't do it.

If you are the sort of person who wants to say what he pleases and then erase it all later, I do not want you here. Leave, and good riddance!

I hate cowards and sissies, and White cowards and sissies especially. (God may forgive me!)

This thread will give readers an insight into the disconnects which happen when board members delete their posts (see the last post, by Matt):

Here is a better example:
