File Sharing

I was thinking about this for quite awhile, but a post which Filidh made finally told me to do it. I just set up a file sharing domain, where account holders can upload files through a pretty cool web-based interface. It is the same program I myself use for many of the files stored at Christogenea, on a data space closed off to search engines and the general public. (Which currently holds 115 GB and 55,000 files.) This new domain will be left open to search engines, unless popular request demands otherwise.

If anyone who is a member-in-good-standing here for at least 90 DAYS and has at least 25 QUALITY POSTS wants an account at http://files.christogenea.org please let me know, and I will make one for you. Yeah, the requirements are arbitrary, but they are firm and I have my reasons. And I still may neglect to make an account for you if I feel I do not know you well enough. But do not ask at all if you do not at least meet these requirements.

Once you have an account you may upload files. I will not set a space limit so long as people do not get crazy. (Even a gigabyte or two for a worthy venture would be acceptable.) Once files are uploaded, they can be linked anywhere on the internet, including this forum.

The link to an uploaded file would look like this: files.christogenea.org/USERNAME/FILENAME

Users would also be able to create sub-folders, which then must be included in the path to files thus: files.christogenea.org/USERNAME/FOLDERNAME/FILENAME

All file names and folder names, including your username, would be case sensitive. It is best not to put punctuation in file names, as often they just won't work. They are file names, and grammatical correctness is superfluous and inefficient.

Other users would not be able to see/manipulate your files. The only other person who could see them directly is me. However they will be open to the internet.

Files cannot be hidden, will definitely be public, and had better meet our Christian standards or your account will be terminated. No porn, no smut, and no copyright violations, please.

If you would like an account, I will accept requests ONLY by private message. Non-Forum members are NOT invited.

Thank you, and praise Yahweh!
Bill

A new and improved File Sharing website for forum members;

http://files.christogenea.org/

Registration by request.
Please read the OP
Comments and suggestions welcome.

Files uploaded to the old site are still available through the original links, but cannot be modified except by me, because the old system is removed and the physical files relocated (although the old links are still good).

The new file sharing site also offers the ability to upload and display images, audio, video and PDF files.

Here are some samples:

http://files.christogenea.org/PDFs/wmfinck/martin-luther-estate-marriage-1522

Users can browse files posted by other users. The general public can only see links they are provided by users, and there are no menus of links to find other content.

Search engines may find linked content, but the file directories are closed to them.

I will soon add social network icons and other features.
