Christogenea NT Translation

Postby Lang » Sat Jul 19, 2014 1:15 pm

Bill, I would like to know if you have interest in translating the Christogenea New Testament to another languages. I'm asking this because I can't advise people to read it (in my area), as they only understand portuguese and some german. So I'm offering myself to translate it for you (from english to portuguese). May you give me your permission?

Give a hammer to an asian, and he will build other hammers;
Give a hammer to an arab, and he will kill his wife;
Give a hammer to a nigger, and he will kill whites;
Give a hammer to a jew, and he will sell it to niggers.

Hey Lang, I am not trying to speak for anyone else.

But a translation of a translation, no matter how perfect, would never be as good as the source. It would be a massive undertaking too.

If people know the basics of CI, and how we interpret some key passages and parables differently ...they would be able to get -much- more from a standard translation. It would be much easier and more efficient to show them these things with their current Bible. They would probably be more comfortable and trusting-of the Bible they currently use as well.

I really think that is the better way to go. Otherwise you would risk losing the message in a translation of a translation ...not good practice. Maybe you could learn koine Greek:), but it is probably much better to just take what you know and apply it to a standard translation.

I know some early translations were taken from Latin.
...and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life.

Lang,

I do appreciate your support and your zeal, but I would have to agree with Joe.

A lot can be lost in translations of translations, regardless of the value of the translations.

BUT someone who understood Koine Greek, Portuguese AND English could take advantage of my work in order to help make a better translation from Greek to Portuguese.

Praise Christ!

On this subject I have to agree with Bill. A translation of a translation will soon take on a different translation than was intended. As we say in the south I was "plumb tickled" to finally have a (jew) racially unbiased N.T. I collect Bibles and my Christogenea N.T. is one I use and try to gain the most understanding from.
